Bai Hao – Oriental Beauty
Are you familiar with competition teas? If this is the first time you have read about this topic, we recommend this article we published a few years ago about Dong Ding Competition Teas.
This year, in addition to Mr. Xu's regular Bai Hao (Oriental Beauty), we are pleased to offer you a lot from the Emei competition, which took place last July. This one is classified "2 flowers"; it is a mention that we give about 20 to 25% of the teas presented in the contest.
For those who would like to explore more deeply the teas from the competition, we always have some exceptional boxes of 2nd class and 3rd class (see table below) from the 2018 competition. This type of tea often benefits from the effect of time, unlike green teas. Producers often suggest reserving a quantity to be drunk for 1-3 years, as the tea develops new flavours.
Most years between 30% and 50% of the teas presented are eliminated from the contest ... Following this, a careful classification is made to determine the visual, taste and olfactory values of those Bai Hao still competing and the judges then determine a rank for each lot remaining.
So, this year we present 3 lots for you, one classified "Mention 2 blossoms" (2019) one "3rd class" (2018) and one"2nd class" (2018). Note that only about 5% of the teas presented receive this last distinction. Sure to be fun gustatively speaking!
