Ceylan Mattakelle

A surprising black tea from central Sri Lanka. The processing of this tea, with its long twisted leaves and buds, results in a taste and appearance of an Wulong (Bai Hao), but without completely omitting the typically malty aspect of a black tea. Mattakelle, a plantation at around 1400 metres, started its activities in the 1870’s, when tea cultivation first arrived in the country.
Clear and smooth with a beautiful copper colour, the infusion offers clear floral (rosehip flowers) and fruity (cooked pears) flavours. This pleasant start develops into a lingering notes of lavender and a slight camphorous sensation on the palate.
Generous and powerful!
