Chawan Raku | Kuro
Made by hand without a wheel, Raku works have evolved with this precious and artisanal touch that follows the aesthetic concept of Wabi-sabi.
Raku is made by a rapid firing at low temperature. The result is an airy stoneware with a porous texture. In the hand, the astonishing lightness and rustic appearance of this bowl seems an inspiration of delicacy.
While the Japanese tea ceremony, Chanoyu, is the primary inspiration of Raku the tradition extends well beyond this ritual.
