This japanese tea caddy is entirely clad in cherry wood, one of japan's emblematic trees.
This caddy will efficiently preserve your most treasured teas thanks to its double lid. All the pieces of this box are made of cherry wood. It is difficult not to be moved by the meticulous hand-working that has gone into this creation! The result is beautiful, astonishingly lightweight and waterproof.
This container, part of a rich ancient tradition from the north of Japan, is in itself a beautiful object of contemplation. As a living material, the bark subtly changes hues over time.
In the small town of Kakunodate, many fine objects are made of cherry wood, a tree that Japanese hold in great esteem.
The colour gradients and capacity may vary from one to another. See it as evidence of authentic hand made work!
Three weeks before hand harvesting, shade structures which filter out up to 90% of sunlight are placed over the tea to develop what is commonly called in Japan "the taste of the shadows. The result is a tea weak in tannins, highly complex and aromatic.
This exceptional batch, organic no less, comes from one of the flagship gardens of the region. Its long fragile leaves produce its golden liquor with a supple and oily texture supported by the body of its generous tannins. You'll find subtle notes of flowers and berries complementing the more classical aromas of amber, bark and sweet spices. Just lovely from start to finish.
