At the venerable age of 80, Japanese ceramist Gyokko is still an active artist whose energy do not seem to fade. He manages to keep in artistic vision: offering teapots that are both affordable, artisanal and complex.
Tasse de Carmen Abdallah | Meteor
Truly living bowls! Far from the repetition of serial production, Carmen Abdallah marks, twists and reshapes her symmetrical forms to make them more spontaneous, more organic. Her singular esthetics have a lot to do with her experiences in Japan.
Her style, even her glazes are modestly influenced by these ancestral traditions.
What inspires her in these creations?: “simplicity, textures and contrasts found in forests, on rocks, in bubbling springs...”.
The craft used for these bowls makes each one completely unique so colour gradients and format will vary from one to another. The true beauty of artisanal work.
