Gyokuro Tamahomare

Three weeks before hand harvesting, shade structures which filter out up to 90% of sunlight are placed over the tea to develop what is commonly called in Japan "the taste of the shadows. The result is a tea weak in tannins, highly complex and aromatic.

Our highest grade of ceremonial Matcha. Produced with such finesse it feels like 'drinking silk'. From a blend of three different cultivars expertly chosen and assembled by M. Koyama, its balance is very close to perfection.

This world class tea garden bestows upon us this heavenly clonal First Flush delight. This lot, composed of large leaves and curled buds, is typical of modern aesthetics. It’s light and spacious liquor ranges from scents of herbs and flowers (wild spring flowers) to supple notes of peach and muscatel. A perfect example of pure AV2 cultivar and the glory of young tea plants in the Himalayan soil.

The infusion of its beautiful whole leaves reveals a clear liquor, lively and balanced, with a rich aroma making it one of the best Darjeelings this year. Its herbaceous and floral notes contribute a surprising lightness to this fine and refreshing tea!

This small batch of Sencha is a special lot from a section of M. Sakamoto’s garden where Koshun cultivar is grown rather than the traditional Yabukita.

A delicious Matcha with an excellent quality / price ratio brought to us by the Osafumi brothers, second generation producers.

Nadeshiko organic

This innovation from Japan features a tea from a controlled fermentation with an assorted mix of fine khaki leaves. Its dark red liqueur is rich and full, with powerful aromas of dried fruit, bark and roasted cereal. Hints of spices (vanilla) and sugar embellish the flavours of this surprising (and difficult to classify) tea: Pu er or black tea ?!

A rich and flavorful mid-flush organic delight that crops up every year in Puttabong Tea Estate (known affectionately as the “Clonal Queen”) just north of Darjeeling town.

Originating in Guangdong, this black tea bears the typical form of the wulong teas produced in the Feng Huang region.

Nepal autumnal Jun Chiyabari Organic

From magnificent gardens, only a short distance from Darjeeling, the delicate leaves and golden buds of this fall lot have been transformed with care and expertise. The resulting liquor is sweet and light, displaying its rich floral perfumes, honey and subtle fruity (apple) and chocolate accents. Simply exquisite!

This Sencha green tea comes from M. Miyashita’s gardens in Tenryu (Shizuoka), a region known for its natural beauty and the high quality of its teas. 

Darjeeling 1st Flush Castleton

Active for over 130 years, the Castleton garden shines again in classic style. This early lot, produced before the lockdown in India, gives us a rich and tasty liquor enhanced by acidulous and mineral tones. 

Darjeeling 1st Flush Jungpana WM organic

This exceptional batch, organic no less, comes from one of the flagship gardens of the region. Its long fragile leaves produce its golden liquor with a supple and oily texture supported by the body of its generous tannins. You'll find subtle notes of flowers and berries complementing the more classical aromas of amber, bark and sweet spices. Just lovely from start to finish.

Huiming Hong Cha

This black tea, a recent innovation of Mr. He, is composed of long curly leaves decorated with golden buds.

Zhenghe Hong Gong Fu

The major producing region of Fujian brings us these small dark leaves with coppery buds and fragrances of opulent flowers (peony), musk, and sweet spices. On the palate, its sweet taste combines with a range of woody (conifer) and fruity aromas. Supple and balanced, its liquor offers a lovely gourmet persistence of cocoa and peanut oil. A must for any fan of black tea.

Darjeeling 1st Flush Goomtee

Produced before the lockdown in India, this early lot from Goomtee’s old seed plants was transformed in the classical style typical of this garden. Dating back to the late 19th century, the Goomtee Tea Estate has more than enough experience to produce a great tasting cup.

Jing Guan Yin Hong

This highly aromatic black tea from Fujian is one of M. He’s recent experimentations. Skilfully transformed following the Chinese methods for black tea, the Jin Guan Yin (a cultivar from the Wuyi Mountains normally used for wulong production) reveals an exceptionally smooth and fruity profile.

Kamairicha Organic

From an organic culture on Kyushu Island, this tea is produced by pan-fried method (kamairi), instead of the conventional Japanese method of steaming. This style of transformation gives a particular balance between bitterness and sweetness, exempt from the typical astringency found in Sencha style teas.

This green tea from Anhui is one of China’s ten most famous teas. Its reputation comes from a very specific plucking, where only mature leaves are taken from the trees and the buds left in place.

Easily recognizable by its long slender leaves, this classic Chinese green tea comes from Huo Shan County (litt. “Huo Shan Yellow Buds”) in Anhui.

Kabusecha Takamado

Grown and processed in the region of Uji in Japan, this "shade-tea" is of great finesse. Shade structures which block up to 70% of the light are placed over the tea plants two weeks before harvest in order to soften the leaves and increase the chlorophyll concentration.

Long Jing Zhejiang Organic

A great Chinese Classic whole leaf with a bright tint of  jade.  A clear green liquor, brisk and tasty with elegant floral and grassy notes well structured with an edge of fresh hazelnut.

This lovely tea, produced in the Jiangxi province, is full of silver buds and is endowed with sustained and round vegetal flavours.

Dejiang Long Zhu

Coming straight from a new garden project perched at 1,200 meters above sea level in eastern Guizhou, this tea harvested from 5-year-old seedlings of the Fuding Da Bai cultivar was grown without chemicals, as evidenced by the results of our laboratory tests in Shanghai.

The Okabe farmers cooperative offers us this Gyokuro produced following the covered method of cultivation giving it its characteristic taste from shade.

This black tea comes from the luxurious gardens of Jeju Island, located just a few kilometers off the Korean coast. Formed by volcanic eruptions, Jeju is prime location for the Osulloc tea farms.

This tea from Hunan Province is grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides and is made solely from lovely rolled golden-hued buds.

Sencha Koshun Organic

This Sencha from Shizuoka region comes from a rare cultivar called Koshun and is known for its intense floral bouquet.

Sencha Mobata

Made in the traditional style of Shizuoka (Japan), this Sencha is one of our best sellers, year after year. 

Previously tended by the late M. Sugiyama, the family gardens are now under the supervision of his wife and son who proudly carry on the passion for the craft. 

Brisk and bold, this tea carries in the mouth a strong vegetal taste with a slight bitterness and a pleasant floral finish, it is an excellent daily companion.
