Gyokuro Tamahomare

Three weeks before hand harvesting, shade structures which filter out up to 90% of sunlight are placed over the tea to develop what is commonly called in Japan "the taste of the shadows. The result is a tea weak in tannins, highly complex and aromatic.

We are proud to offer you this lot that has received an Honourable Mention in at the annual Luku competition. This lot was ranked in the top 10 teas  of 6000. Its golden liqueur is sweet and full, combined with its slightly acidulous notes. Sweet hints of pineapple and candied fruit, oatmeal cookies and almond butter. The whole experience is supported by well integrated tannins and a bright briskness. This masterpiece builds towards a long finale where floral and fruity accents dominate. A gem for the lucky few!

Lingtou Yuan Wei Dancong

A classic black wulong from Guangdong, both very suave and exotic. This tea comes from a less exploited side of the Dan Cong Mountains where crops are grown without chemicals. Its lively and fruity liquor (guava and honeydew melon) displays intense honey and floral fragrances. Powerful in the mouth, vegetal and woody notes are supported by generous tannins. Produced from thirty years old plants, this deep and well balanced tea offers a lot of infusions. Its finish is long, true to its name (meaning "taste of origin"), and worthy of exceptional teas.

This is a new lot of this famous wulong made by Mr. Xu in Taiwan, highly prized for its aromatic complexity. Li Shan

This high mountain wulong tea was harvested from Mr. Chang Fu Chin’s garden, located on the slopes of the ‘Pear Mountain' (Li Shan) at over 2000 m. Its beautiful leaves, exploding with aromatic oils, deliver a supple and vegetal liquor, enhanced by a velvety texture and charming flowery aromas. Its sweet and lingering finish aptly completes the fascinating flavour profile of this grand cru !

Sun Moon Lake T-18

Here is a rare black tea from Taiwan, made using the well known T-18 cultivar which is derived from a cross between a large leafed tea from Burma (Ashamu) and a wild tea tree from southern Taiwan.

Pinglin Bao Zhong

Situated in the north of the island, to the south of the capital, the town of Pinglin remains true to the traditional style of "Bao Zhong" with the leaves rolled lengthways into twists. Velvety and slightly saline, the liquor is vegetal (spinach) enhanced with accents of tomatoes and spices. The evolution of flavours and mouthfeel is dynamic with a persistent finish refined with citrus (clementine) and flowers.

Gyokuro Okabe

Here is a "Precious Dew"  from the Shizuoka region produced from the Samidori cultivar, often used to make Gyokuro and Matcha.

Dong Ding Competition 1st Grade | Collection Box

This First Class, award-winning wulong is one of the last one hundred teas in its category from the 6000 lots presented this year at the Luku contest. As required by the competition, the leaves are tightly rolled with the typical colours of the region's traditional roasting. A rich and oily liquor presents its aromatic complexity while oscillating between the warmness of bark and grilled rice and the exotic notes of fruit and flowers . A zesty character blends harmoniously with its slightly resinous finish. A Grand Cru, delicious from start to finish.

Gaba Cha

A surprising black wulong from the North of Taiwan. A varied dry leaf gives an deep amber cup with a spicy and fruity nose. Full flavour is sweet with edges of cooked apple and grenadine. Notes of cinnamon bark and nutmeg add to a floral and fruity persistence.

Sejak Seoladawon | Collection Box

This Corean tea is entirely picked and transformed by hand. The result is of a rare complexity: sweet scents of green peas, kombu seaweed and raisins; body dominated by herbal aromas with hints of chestnuts and peat; lightly tart and marine-like finish with fruity and floral undertones.

Sencha Minamikyushu

Showcasing exceptional aromatic finesse, this Sencha green tea won second place in the annual Aichi prefectural tea competition (Japan). Competing in the “small batch” category (lots under 10kg), it will only make it to a handful of lucky clients for an exquisite tasting experience.

Matcha Uji

A delicious matcha with an excellent quality / price ratio brought to us by the Osafumi brothers, second generation producers. This matcha comes from the mythical region of Uji, near Kyoto (the former capital of Japan), and more precisely from Ujitawara, hometown of Nagatani Soen, inventor of the sencha tea style. Its powerful and tasty emulsion offers a velvety texture and a slightly bitter-sweet flavor, with notes of oily grass and snow peas. A touch of gentle iodine tickles the palate, overshadowing everything. 

Chi Ye Bai Ye

This dark wulong from Phoenix Mountains (Feng Huang) is a a very great example of balanced charcoal roasting: light chestnut aromas with a side of ripe fruits and a lingering flowery breath in the finish.

Shan Lin Xi

Initial impression from this taiwanese highland wulong is an aroma of ground-cherry and wheat-grass which evolves into fresh vanilla and flowers. Rich creamy texture with sweet final notes of coconut.

Amateurs of exceptional tea, here is one of three recent batches coming to us from the annual Bai Hao competition in Taiwan. This one, nominated 2 flowers, as it is the case for about 20 to 25% of the 2000 lots judged, presents beautiful leaves adorned with sumptuous buds. Once infused, they display seductive scents of flowers (orange blossom) and pastries, charging the air with their aromatic power. Nepal autumnal Jun Chiyabari Organic

From magnificent gardens, only a short distance from Darjeeling, the delicate leaves and golden buds of this fall lot have been transformed with care and expertise. The resulting liquor is sweet and light, displaying its rich floral perfumes, honey and subtle fruity (apple) and chocolate accents. Simply exquisite!

Feng Huang Hong Cha

Originating in Guangdong, this black tea bears the typical form of the wulong teas produced in the Feng Huang region.

Qi Lan Xiang

Rolled into thin twists, true to the style of Guangdong, this wulong  has, however, been roasted only once (rather than twice) preserving its greenness and its distinctly floral aromatic bouquet. Its liquor thrusts its vegetal and sweet (fried courgette) character, embellished with rich nuances of fresh cream and coconut. Its finish is thirst-quenching and shows a tangy edge evoking pineapple. Also an excellent ice tea!

Its woody and caramelized notes nuanced by fine floral accents support its finish - both soft, and full of freshness.

From Arya Tea Estate, a relatively small garden in Darjeeling’s East Valley, comes this organic black tea made from fall harvested leaves.

Huo Shan Huang Ya

Easily recognizable by its long slender leaves, this classic Chinese green tea comes from Huo Shan County (litt. “Huo Shan Yellow Buds”) in Anhui. Well known for is refined visual and delicate aromas, it has been an imperial tribute since the Ming Dynasty.

Kabusecha Takamado

Grown and processed in the region of Uji in Japan, this "shade-tea" is of great finesse. Shade structures which block up to 70% of the light are placed over the tea plants two weeks before harvest in order to soften the leaves and increase the chlorophyll concentration.

Anxi Tie Guan Yin

Legendary rolled wulong from Fujian (China), Tie Guan Yin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) is one of the country’s best representatives. Its sharp, sweet taste and its characteristic flowery aromas (lilacs and lilies) made it a favorite both East and West. This particularly aromatic harvest comes from M. Zhang Guo Hua’s gardens, in the mountainous region of Anxi. Grown in altitude, his tea bursts with intensity.

This tea from Zhejiang is produced by the master hand of Mr He, a dynamic and forward-thinking producer. The curly leaves accompanied by generous buds release in infusion a tasty and oily liquor. Bright and lively, it deploys a powerful fragrance of spring flowers. Its fruity (peach) and grassy nuances support its long nebulous finish. A fine and balanced tea.

Kamairicha Organic

From an organic culture on Kyushu Island, this tea is produced by pan-fried method (kamairi), instead of the conventional Japanese method of steaming. This style of transformation gives a particular balance between bitterness and sweetness, exempt from the typical astringency found in Sencha style teas.
