Pu Er Sheng 1986 Xia Guan

Shaped in tuo cha (bird nest) of 250g by the Xiaguan tea factory, this 30 years old Pu Er is to be tasted with attention and care. A generous rinse allows aromas of damp undergrowth and roots (beetroot) to prepare the infusion of a clear mineral liquor, deeply marked by notes of lichen and black earth. The sharp and slightly metallic attack slowly evolves towards a sweet finish with fine accents of berries, spices (anise) and camphor. A rare tea, deep and long lasting in taste, enhanced by subtle soothing effects.

Rich with the knowledge of 16 generations of tea producers, Mr Marukyu offers us this amazingly accessible and addictive matcha.

Pu Er Sheng 1994 7542 Da Kou Zhong

Marked by the famous 7542 seal, this Sheng Pu Er cake sourced from Taiwan where it has been patiently preserved. After one or two rinses, it will release a few darker leaves as well as scents of humid wood, fresh spices (fennel) and leather. Its dark-red liquor is silky with a slight edge of pepper and has a mineral and earthy body reminiscent of lichee and beets. This Pu Er which holds the humid storage seal will surely please any fan of milder, earthy teas.

Pu Er Sheng 1996 Menghai

Here is a loose leaf Pu Er from the Menghai region which has since aged under dry storage in Hong Kong. The infusion of the large leaves, in multiple shades of dark khaki, fills the air with the fragrance of damp undergrowth and camphor. Its liquor is full and mineral, having a vegetal character (lichen) nuanced with accents of burnt wood and acid fruits. Its slightly spicy finish (cinnamon) is marked by a generous persistence of tannins.

Pu Er Sheng 1992 Menghai Hou Gen

This loose tea composed of whole leaves and delicate golden buds was dry aged in Hong Kong by Mr Chan. The infusion promises warm notes of leather and undergrowth. Its soft and mineral liquor is adorned with vegetal (lichen) and fruity fragrances typical of old pu er sheng. Its finish is simply sublime with the length and depth of its minty accents evocative of wintergreen.

Pu Er Shou 1976 Menghai

This very respectable shou Pu Er is offered here in carefully broken pieces of the original cake, a relatively affordable formula when compared to the price of whole cakes of this age. Its liquor is dense and milky, even after two rinses (as is often recommended for these antiques). The sweetness of its attack is accompanied by earthy and woody notes (typical of very old shou) softened by the many years spent in storage. The tea also sports pleasant nuances of fruits and flowers alongside that of camphor. Like an old book read with care and respect, this tea is to be savored with wisdom. 

Pu Er Sheng 1983 Menghai

This loose leaf Pu Er produced in the prolific Menghai tea factory and expertly preserved in Hong Kong will satisfy all amateurs of rich and balanced teas. Thirty plus years of ripening have enhanced this tea which, once infused, offers a dense and opaque liquor. Silky and generously sweet, it carries its effects deep down the throat giving the impression of a gentle massage. Nuances of wet wood, dates, incense and spices all lead towards a refreshing and minty finish, like we love them!

Pu Er Sheng 1998 Menghai 7542

This cake was produced according to one of the most popular recipes in the world of aged teas, and since the creation of this assemblage of medium grade leaves (4) in 1975 by the Menghai factory (2), enthusiasts have not ceased rejoicing. This nearly 20-year-old version, stored in the humid environment of Taiwan, already displays the mark of time by its aromas of damp burned wood and camphor. Pu Er Sheng 2000 Menghai

Impressive big leaves make up this Pu Er from the late 20th century. Intoxicating mossy fragrances (lichen) blend with the comforting aromas of root vegetables (potatoes, carrots) and dried bamboo. Its bright liquor affirms dynamism in a strong initial mouthfeel with tangy, sweet, mineral sensations. Its aromatic bouquet is rich with a refreshing after taste felt long in the breath. Gyokuro Tamahomare

Three weeks before hand harvesting, shade structures which filter out up to 90% of sunlight are placed over the tea to develop what is commonly called in Japan "the taste of the shadows. The result is a tea weak in tannins, highly complex and aromatic.

Pu Er Shou 2003 Orange Label

Created with the expertise of the great factories of the late 20th century, this shu pu er is identified with the tea character "cha" in orange print. The aromas of leather, stone and damp wood emerge from the rinsing of the leaves. Its brown liquor is crystalline and softly deploys its sweet mineral flavors, evoking the purity of a spring water! Incense and candied fruit nuances enhance this balanced and refreshing tea.

Aged for almost ten years, this wulong from Mr. Xu is sure to charm all admirers with the scent of brown sugar that emanates from its blend of whole leaves and fine silver buds. In infusion flavours of bark and roasted coffee dominate the aromatic spectrum. Its liquor, clear and mineral, retains a certain vitality despite its years of dormancy. Buckwheat (honey) and butter caramel notes enhance the slightly spicy pastry aspect of this tea from the North West of Taiwan.

Lingtou Yuan Wei Dancong

A classic black wulong from Guangdong, both very suave and exotic. This tea comes from a less exploited side of the Dan Cong Mountains where crops are grown without chemicals. Its lively and fruity liquor (guava and honeydew melon) displays intense honey and floral fragrances. Powerful in the mouth, vegetal and woody notes are supported by generous tannins. Produced from thirty years old plants, this deep and well balanced tea offers a lot of infusions. Its finish is long, true to its name (meaning "taste of origin"), and worthy of exceptional teas.

Ali Shan 1999 (Charcoal Roast)

Plucked by hand and aged since 1999 by successive charcoal roasting, this high mountain tea offers an infusion with glossy black leaves and warm fragrances. Its liquor is rounded, velvety and deploys a broad range of aromatic nuances, with accents through woods and vanilla to notes of iodine (seaweed) and empyreumatics (coffee, caramel). The finish is gentle and deep.

Bai Hao

This is a new lot of this famous wulong made by Mr. Xu in Taiwan, highly prized for its aromatic complexity. Composed of many buds and small leaves, it possesses intoxicating aromas of cooked pears, spices and heady flowers. Its liquor is rich and sweet evoking warm buckwheat honey or caramelized root vegetables. A satisfying daily drink, for its invigorating effect and its flavors!

Pu Er Shou 2005 Haiwan

This Shou Pu Er produced by the Haiwan factory, Yunnan, is composed of leaves of medium size compressed into a disc of 357 grams. Upon wetting, it exhales fragrances evoking toasted cereal and forest floor. The infusion reveals a dense, creamy liquid, almost black, and an especially comforting character. Its sweet taste is accompanied by aromas of malt, barley sugar and exotic woods to a soft and subtly fruity finish. Very generous re-infusions.

Thai Pu Er Sheng 2006 Hong Tai Cha

A great addition to our aged tea menu this 357g cake is from a more obscure terroir, compressed using ancient traditions of China. Just as the other neighboring countries of southern Yunnan (Laos, Burma, Vietnam), Thailand has a long history associated with the production of this style of tea. This 2006 Hong Tai Cha is a tea well worthy of attention, selected for its flavour profile, its aging potential, as well as its cultural interest. Pu Er Sheng 2003 Yiwu Sheng Tai

From one of Yunnan’s most prized terroirs (a favorite among collectors), this 2003 Yiwu Pu Er is made from hundred year old tea trees. Great quality harvest and controlled aging in Hong Kong combine for a deep and complex tea.

Pu Er Sheng 2015 Bada Shan

This 100-gram cake was produced from a blend of large orange tinted brown leaves and long buds from 800 year old wild tea trees on Bada mountain. The liquor obtained is light and vegetal, nuanced by notes of softwood fire and spices (camphor). Its long finish is refreshingly citrusy!

Pu Er Sheng 2006 Yiwu Big Green Tree

The times where the Emperor received his tea tribute from Yiwu are long gone, however, the quality of the Pu Er leaves harvested from that region are in increasingly high demand. This cake is produced from larger trees, its rinsed leaves release a powerful camphor scent, ripe fruit and pine trees after the rain. The liquor, full-bodied and resinous, is mineral with hints of incense and musk, often found in other more ancient teas. Definitely a worthy addition to any collection of aged teas!

Pu Er Shou 2008 Yellow Label 7572

Here is a 357g cake with the trademark ideogram for the tea in yellow, produced in the Menghai factory from grade 7 leaves, i.e. large leaves. Rinsing releases warm forest, cereal (oat) and fruity fragrances. Its liquor, opaque and supple, boasts a sweet and tangy density evoking molasses or dry fruits (dates). Fine milky and pepper accents enhance the character of this Shou Pu Er with typical deep, rooty notes.

Our Matcha Sendo is a blend of two classic cultivars, assembled with the talents of M. Koyama, reputed artisan in Uji. 

Rou Gui Ma Tou Mr Liu

The Ma Tou (“horse head”) section in Wuyi National Park is known to produce some of the best Rou Gui in the World. This type of Wulong, harvested near the strange rock formation, is amongst the most sought after in China.

Laos Pu Er Sheng 2018 Phong Sali

Without venturing far into Laos we find farmers producing tea using the ancestral methods of Yunnan. In Phong Sali, producers work their teas with great care, rivaling (and even occasionally surpassing) the quality those of their famous neighbors… often at much lower prices.

Sun Moon Lake T-18

Here is a rare black tea from Taiwan, made using the well known T-18 cultivar which is derived from a cross between a large leafed tea from Burma (Ashamu) and a wild tea tree from southern Taiwan. Infused, its graceful leaves emanate smooth aromas of wintergreen, malt and tobacco. Lightly mentholated and generously fruity with notes of prune and raisin, its liquor is round, full and silky. A perfect tea for those special mornings.

Da Hong Pao 1994

This famous "rock wulong" from Fujian is offered in this version aged for more than twenty years.

Pu Er Sheng 2004 Changtai

Produced in 2004 by Changtai Tea Group and stored in Hong Kong since, this sheng style Pu Er tea represents high standards in aging techniques.

Pu Er Sheng 2009 Bada Shan

This Sheng Pu Er, carefully preserved in Hong Kong, has spent two years in wet storage before continuing its maturation in dryer conditions. Its dark and woody liquor bears the mark of these environments, as shown by its roots (beet), lichen and fennel aromas. Its texture is smooth with light and sweet flavors. This Pu Er is both ready to drink now and perfect to set aside for further maturation. A great addition to any collection.

Song Zhong Wudong 100 years old single tea tres | Collection Box

The Feng Huang Mountains of China produce a few wulong from single tea trees.  This Song Zhong Wudong comes from the leaves of a single 100-year-old tree. Lightly oxidized, the finished tea offers pleasant scents of exotic fruits and vanilla. Its honey liquor, wildly persistent, is loaded with rich flavors and complex aromas (opulent flowers, zucchini). Finely balanced, a great tea is to be savoured slowly.  

Gyokuro Okabe

Here is a "Precious Dew"  from the Shizuoka region produced from the Samidori cultivar, often used to make Gyokuro and Matcha.

Pu Er Sheng 2007 Yiwu Jing Long

From the famous Yiwu terroir (Yunnan), this young Pu Er is initially surprising for the amber tint of its liquor. On the palate, it unfolds slowly and offers vegetal (nettle), fruity and spicy (vanilla) nuances. Long and sweet, its camphor finish plunges us into the heart of a coniferous forest.

Darjeeling Avongrove organic

This white tea is the result of a unique combination of a harvest from assamica tea plants from Darjeeling, and the expertise of Mr Subba, manager of the garden. Silky buds offer a heady brew with fragrances of flowers and cocoa. Its brilliant light yellow liquid, finely tart, enhances its grassy character (dry straw, sorrel) with generous fruity notes. Subtle notes of malt and hazelnut support the finish of this substantial and complex tea. a Totally smooth experience!

As required by the competition, the leaves are tightly rolled with the typical colours of the region's traditional roasting. Gaba Cha

A surprising black wulong from the North of Taiwan. A varied dry leaf gives an deep amber cup with a spicy and fruity nose. Full flavour is sweet with edges of cooked apple and grenadine. Notes of cinnamon bark and nutmeg add to a floral and fruity persistence.

Java Purbasari

Many years have passed since we last sold an Indonesian import on our menu; these silky white buds are produced in the Purbasari region of Java Island.

Pu Er Sheng 2016 Mengsong

This 200g tea cake, signed with out logo, has been entirely made with leaves from Mengsong moutain in Bulang Shan. This fine harvest results in an intensively herbaceous infusion with flavors both bitter and exquisitely sweet. Floral notes abound from beginning to end, escorted throughout by a gourmet presence evoking almond paste. A tea as powerful as it is fine, offering an unusual persistence.

Sencha Minamikyushu

Showcasing exceptional aromatic finesse, this Sencha green tea won second place in the annual Aichi prefectural tea competition (Japan). Competing in the “small batch” category (lots under 10kg), it will only make it to a handful of lucky clients for an exquisite tasting experience.

Jingning Yin Zhen Organic

Worthy of the expertise of Mr He, this superb white tea is of uniform, smooth and fine buds. The infusion offers rich flavors of oats, fruit (ripe banana) and flowers, nuanced in the mouth by a peppery accent. Its rosy liquor is sweet, oily and full. Well balanced, it evolves to a minty and thirst quenching finish. To be savoured in tranquillity!

Matcha Uji

A delicious matcha with an excellent quality / price ratio brought to us by the Osafumi brothers, second generation producers. This matcha comes from the mythical region of Uji, near Kyoto (the former capital of Japan), and more precisely from Ujitawara, hometown of Nagatani Soen, inventor of the sencha tea style. Its powerful and tasty emulsion offers a velvety texture and a slightly bitter-sweet flavor, with notes of oily grass and snow peas. A touch of gentle iodine tickles the palate, overshadowing everything. 

Chi Ye Bai Ye

This dark wulong from Phoenix Mountains (Feng Huang) is a a very great example of balanced charcoal roasting: light chestnut aromas with a side of ripe fruits and a lingering flowery breath in the finish.

Nadeshiko organic

This innovation from Japan features a tea from a controlled fermentation with an assorted mix of fine khaki leaves. Its dark red liqueur is rich and full, with powerful aromas of dried fruit, bark and roasted cereal. Hints of spices (vanilla) and sugar embellish the flavours of this surprising (and difficult to classify) tea: Pu Er or black tea ?!

Ali Shan

From the mountain of Ali Shan, Taiwan, this high altitude wulong is one of our grand classics. A sweet and fruity liquor has notes of coconut strong floral aroma with an edge of vanilla.

Pu Er Shou 2006 Macao Scenary

This is a Pu Er compressed in the ancient style of 'zhuan' or 250 gram bricks. The dark, luxurious infusion reflecting its aromatic character of black earth and leather, tempered by a surprising note of aromatic herb. Its liquor is silky and thirst quenching. An accessible tea to drink on a daily basis.

Shan Lin Xi

Initial impression from this taiwanese highland wulong is an aroma of ground-cherry and wheat-grass which evolves into fresh vanilla and flowers. Rich creamy texture with sweet final notes of coconut.

Bai Hao Yin Zhen

A worthy representative of the great teas of China, this white tea consisting purely of buds catches the eye at first sight. The lively and silky liquor fills the palate with fruity and vegetal fragrances (straw, mushroom). Long and delicate, its finish is flowery (chamomile) and refreshing.
